TITLE: FLEET MECHANIC

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
 
• Primary responsible for the repair and maintenance of all company 
vehicles.
• Responsible for completing repairs, adjustments and preventative maintenance service and 
checks on company vehicles in accordance with prescribed PM policies and procedures. 
• Responsible for accurate record keeping of all services and repairs completed. 
• Responsible for alerting the Maintenance Manager for any suspected or confirmed abuse of 
company vehicles/equipment. 
• Responsible for determining if reported failures are the result of improper operation by crew 
members, material defects, normal wear, or other causes.
• Responsible for facility and ground maintenance as assigned by the Maintenance Manager.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
➢ Complete preventative maintenance checks and services on all vehicles.
➢ Perform diagnosis and repair on brake systems.
➢ Perform diagnosis and repair of electrical systems.
➢ Perform diagnosis and repair of power train.
➢ Perform diagnosis and repair of air conditioning/heating systems.
➢ Respond to road calls as needed.
➢ Remain abreast of changes and trends in the industry.
➢ Accept other associated responsibilities and projects as assigned.

PHYSICAL STRENGTH REQUIRED
1. Must be able to sit, stand, and/or walk for extended periods.
2. Ability to use a variety of Office 
Equipment.
3. Ability to lift a minimum of 50 
Lbs.
4. Ability to use a variety of tools

1. Strong knowledge of methods, material, tools, and techniques used in the repair and maintenance of a 
variety of automotive and mechanical equipment: operating principles of gasoline and diesel engines 
and of mechanical repair of vehicles ranging from passenger cars to in the one (1) ton category.
2. Locating, correcting, and adjusting defects in complex automotive and mechanical equipment; 
performing skilled work in repairing, overhauling, and maintaining gas and diesel powered automotive 
equipment; intercepting and working from charts, technical manuals, and diagrams; using and caring 
for tools and equipment used in automotive and mechanical repair work; maintaining detailed and 
routine records.
3. Ability to work well with others.
4. Ability to communicate effectively in both a written and oral manner.
5. Ability to maintain a good driving record.
6. Ability to strictly adhere to established safety policies and guidelines.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Current possess a current South Carolina State driver’s license.
2. Two (2) years of confirmed experience as a mechanic, or One (1) year of confirmed experience 
after successful completion of a industry recognized trade school or college.
3. Strong background in electrical, air conditioning, heating, braking, and power train systems. To 
include diagnosis and repair.
4. Certification for procurement/purchasing, of refrigerant type gases and oils for air-conditioning 
systems.
6. Must furnish own tools.
7. Must be available 24 hours a day.
8. Physical requirements;
a. Has no back problem, muscle problem, or other physical disability which would not allow 
the lifting and carrying of heavy weight.
b. Has quick reflexes and superior safe driving ability.
c. Has no established medical history or clinical diagnosis of epilepsy, rheumatic, arthritic, 
orthopedic, muscular, neuromuscular, or vascular disease, or any other medical condition 
which may interfere with his ability to control and operate a motor vehicle and automotive 
repair machinery or tools.
d. Has no established medical history or clinical diagnosis of uncontrolled diabetes mellitus.
e. No emotional, mental, nervous, organic, or functional disorder likely to interfere with safe 
emergency driving and operation of automotive repair machinery or tools.
f. No impairment of use of foot, leg,hands, arms or other structural defects or limitations 
likely to interfere with safe driving and operation of automotive repair machinery or tools.

TITLE: ASSISTANT OPERATIONS SUPERVISOR (Lieutenant)

SUPERVISED BY: Directly under the supervision of the Operations
Manager and Operations Supervisor
Indirectly supervised by Senior Management.
Supervision of performance improvement, and in-service education aspects of the position may also come from the Education/CQI Coordinator and/or the Medical Director.
 
EMPLOYEES SUPERVISED: All ambulance and/or wheelchair field operations staff on duty during assigned shift and/or operational area.
 
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION: Directly responsible for the actions of all ambulance and/or wheelchair operations staff on their assigned shifts and have discretionary authority, within the bounds of the law and Medshore Ambulance Service policies and procedures, to lead any on-duty operations personnel.
 
The Assistant Operations Supervisor coordinates all phases of operations within their task area for Medshore Ambulance Service in cooperation with the Operations Manager and/or Operations Supervisor. He / She must be familiar with local, state, federal laws and regulations applicable to the operations of ambulance and/or wheelchair services. He / She maintains contacts with local and state agencies so as to foster cooperation and good public relations. He / She is responsible for the efficient operations of the company and is to insure the highest possible quality of care, transportation, and safety of the patients being treated and transported by the crews providing services.
 
The goal of the Assistant Operations Supervisor is to produce high - quality unit hours at a reasonable cost per unit hour, and to fulfill as closely as possible the coverage requirements of the Operations Manager.
 
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
 
Oversees task performance of those assigned and makes or approves all decisions requiring interpretation of service delivery and company policies.
 
Monitors the performance of crewmembers and peers, corrects errors as necessary, and provides training and feedback.
 
Evaluates performance of crewmembers and peers and submits written and verbal reports as requested or required. They can perform audit and inspection duties usually done by Field Supervisor, i.e., check reports, issue supplies, sign off manifest, inspect vehicles & stations, etc.
 
As a management representative in the field, s/he has the duty to advise, assist or offer service to other co-workers and positions with authority to influence the decisions made by peers and take corrective action when necessary. In this capacity s/he serves as an advisor on company policies and procedures. S/he has limited disciplinary authority while working in the field and may recommend and issue disciplinary action after consultation with the respective Operations Manager and/or Senior Management.
 
Represents the Company to outside organizations, agencies, facilities, and at special events as assigned.
 
Must attend Operations Staff Meetings and other specified meetings required by the Operations and the Senior Management team, when required.
 
Serves as a leader and role-model when responding to emergency and non-emergency calls and delivers high quality patient care and customer service within the prescribed scope of practice, established protocols, and company policies.
 
Ensures completion of station duties and assist the Operations manager and/or Operations
Supervisor with assigned tasks.
 
Assists the Human Resource Department and Education/CQI Coordinator in orientation and other continuing education programs.
 
PHYSICAL STRENGTH REQUIRED:
 
1. Must be able to lift a minimum of 220 pounds (150 lb. patient and approximately 75 lb. stretcher)
with assistance from one other qualified individual.
 
2. Must be able to lift a minimum of 100 pounds at waist high level and carry a distance of 100 yards.
 
3. Must be able to lift and move a 75 lb. ambulance stretcher with the help of one qualified individual.
 
4. Must be able to lift a 175 lb. patient (in various positions, i.e., while lying on the floor, the bed, in an automobile, etc.) with the help of one qualified individual onto a stretcher.
 
5. Must be able to carry a monitor/defibrillator in one hand and an ALS trauma kit in the other for a distance of 100 yards.
 
6. Due to the unpredictability of this type of organization, it is not always possible to guarantee meal and/or break periods. Therefore, this position must have no physical condition which would prohibit him/her from working 12 hours without a meal or break.

COMPANY: Medshore Ambulance
TITLE: LOGISTIC TECHNICIAN
EXEMPTION STATUS: Non-Exempt
 
SUPERVISED BY: Directly by the Operations Supervisor, Assistant Operations Supervisor 
and/or Operations Manager. Supervised indirectly by Managers and/or Coordinators.
 
EMPLOYEES SUPERVISED: None

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
Logistic Technician personnel is to make sure that supplies (including drugs) and equipment are always 
correctly stocked and replaced on each ambulance. Essential supplies geared for specific emergencies are 
heat sealed in plastic and strategically placed into specific compartments inside the ambulance to avoid 
spoilage and for easy accountability during checkoff. When the ambulances return to base from shift, if the 
seal of supply pack is broken, the entire supply bin is immediately replaced with a complete set of new and 
sterile supplies. If a supply bin seal is not broken, it quickly signals to our tech’s that the item do not need 
attention. 
 
In addition to properly restocking the ambulances, Logistic tech personnel will wash the ambulances at the 
end of each shift and check to make sure that they’re in good operating condition on a daily basis. They will 
also retrieve and clean capital equipment from the local hospital so they can be returned quickly to the 
operation. Completion of checkoff on the ambulances, the Logistic tech personnel will do a daily check off 
sheet in EMS toolkits, placing a “green ready tag” on rear view mirror showing the unit is ready at a moment’s
notice. 
 
The Logistic Technician personnel is also expected to function competently as an emergency vehicle
operator to serve as an EMS Driver and/or EMT-B, if needed.
The EMT-B is responsible for following the standards of practice for the Emergency Medical Technician Basic in accordance with the most current US Department of Transportation “Emergency Medical Technician: National Standard Curriculum”, as modified by the South Carolina Department of Health and 
Environmental Control, Div. of EMS and/or Medshore Ambulance Service.
 
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
➢ Stocks vehicles in preparation for on-coming crews and personnel.
➢ Performs terminal cleaning and restocking of units from off-going crews (including drugs).
➢ Assists in relaying units for maintenance.
➢ Cleans and performs upkeep in the supply room at headquarters.
➢ Assists Supervisors with resupplying station supplies for outlining substations or hubs.
➢ Conducts a careful examination of the patient for signs and symptoms of illness/injury and assists other medical personnel as necessary.
➢ Provides prompt and efficient care of the patient and stabilization of his condition prior to transport.
➢ Provides careful handling of the patient in moving him/her to the ambulance vehicle.
➢ Provides safe and efficient transport of the patient while constantly monitoring the patient and providing any appropriate continuing care within the limits of licenser and certification.
➢ Provides orderly transfer of patients to appropriate destinations.

JOB DESCRIPTION
➢ Upon arrival at destination with patient, responsible for cleaning, restocking basic supplies and placing 
the unit back in service as soon as possible.
➢ When necessary, in the absence of other qualified rescuers, use procedures to gain access to and 
disentangle patients who require extrication.
➢ In the absence of other qualified personnel, controls the emergency scene, including parking the 
vehicle in such a way as to minimize further danger in the roadway as well as controlling the actions of 
bystanders.
➢ Obtains information regarding the emergency from the SSC, communicates other emergency services 
as needed during the call. In the absence of or as directed by more qualified personnel,
communicates with receiving hospitals regarding patient status. He must follow FCC with regard to 
communications by radio.
➢ Obtains and records information for the company as well as those required by medical, legal, and 
health authorities. When assigned to an EMT-P crew member, the EMT-B is generally responsible for 
accurate completion of the billing report.
➢ Responsible for the full knowledge of the vehicle’s medical (BLS) and non-medical equipment and its 
proper use.
➢ Will make daily checks of the vehicle equipment and systems, and completes manifest as required.
➢ Reports and relays needed equipment and repairs to Supervisor and Maintenance Personnel.
➢ Responsible for maintaining required state, and national certifications, if certified.
➢ Does not use professional knowledge and skills in any enterprise detrimental the Company or to the 
public well-being.
➢ Respects and holds in confidence all information of a confidential nature obtained in the course of

The Assistant Operations Supervisor coordinates all phases of operations within their task area for

Directly responsible for the actions of all ambulance/wheelchair operations staff on their assigned shifts and have discretionary authority, within the bounds of the law and Medshore Ambulance Service policies and procedures, to lead any on-duty operations personnel.

The Operations Supervisor coordinates all phases of operations within their task area for Medshore Ambulance Service in cooperation with the Operations Manager. He / She must be familiar with local, state, federal laws and regulations applicable to the operations of ambulance services. He / She maintains contacts with local and state agencies so as to foster cooperation and good public relations. He / She is responsible for the efficient operations of the company and is to insure the highest possible quality of care, and safety of the patients being treated and transported by the crews providing services.

The goal of the Operations Supervisor is to produce high - quality unit hours at a reasonable cost per unit hour, and to fulfill as closely as possible the coverage requirements of the Operations Manager.

A “high quality unit hour” may be summarized as a clinically - competent, neat - appearing, well motivated crew conducting themselves at all times in a safe, friendly, caring, and professional manner, while working with high quality, reliable, clean, and well maintained equipment under the direction of the System Status Controller for one hour.

Attend meetings and maintain contacts with allied agencies at the direction of the Operations Manager, and/or Senior Management.
Periodically inspect field personnel, quarters, and units to ensure conformity with Medshore Ambulance Service standards.
Make work assignments with available personnel. Monitor and modify current schedule by staffing to meet the needs of the company.
Work cooperatively with the SSC to ensure that problem or complicated calls are handled properly.
Attend continuing education programs as needed and required.
Assist the Human Resources and Education/CQI Coordinator in orientation and other continuing education programs.
Participate in employee performance appraisals as directed.
Perform corollary duties, within reason, at the direction of superiors.
Give disciplinary action up to a Class II.

Definition:
Dispatcher deploys, tracks and moves units on an ongoing basis throughout the day per local System Status Deployment and Posting Plan.
 
Dispatcher answers incoming phone calls for service per Emergency Medical Dispatch and company procedure as required and documents in Computer Aided Dispatch system. Utilizes appropriate Emergency Medical Dispatch and company procedure to accurately determine the exact nature of each call giving pre arrival instructions to callers per appropriate emergency medical dispatch and company procedure as appropriate.
 
Dispatcher contacts and dispatches by radio, pager or MDT the most appropriate unit each request for service and inputs all required call data correctly into Computer Aided Dispatch system during the course of the call.
 
Dispatcher communicates and coordinates with Field Supervisors and other management and support staff to ensure the proper number of fully equipped and staffed vehicles are available to fulfill local System Status Plan on a daily basis.
 
Minimum Requirements:
High School Diploma
Current AHA Basic Life Support certification.
Must be currently licensed, certified or registered by the appropriate state agencies. 
Must be currently certified in Emergency Medical Dispatch by MPDS or other appropriate organization per local operation requirements.

Definition:
Under the direction of the Director of Communications, a Dispatcher will be responsible for the deployment and tracking and movement of units on an ongoing basis throughout the day per local System Status Management Plan. They will broadcast orders to crews regarding runs, emergencies and general information. 

Dispatchers will operate radio, telephone, or computer equipment relay information or orders to proper individuals or members of management. 

In addition, the dispatcher, under Emergency Medical Dispatch protocol, will be required to take caller information, determine the nature of the run request, dispatch runs (emergent and non-emergent) to the crews in an appropriate and timely manner, and record pertinent information.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Must possess a high degree of personal integrity and responsibility.
  • Currently licensed, certified or registered by the appropriate state agencies.
  • Currently certified in Emergency Medical Dispatch by MPDS or other appropriate organization.
  • Must have the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision, using good judgment.
  • Must have the ability to work in a fast paced, hectic, high pressure environment.
  • Must have the ability to simultaneously manage multiple activities without error.
  • Must have superior spatial orientation ability in order to be able to read and interpret maps.

Specific Duties:
  • Demonstrates complete knowledge, understanding and compliance of company policies and procedures.
  • Ensures that Computer Aided Dispatch computer console, phone system, radio system and all equipment is ready for use at the beginning of each shift.
  • Ensures security of buildings, Dispatch Center and all other company property.
  • Performs daily inspections of their work area and of the Dispatch Center for cleanliness. Then performs the appropriate housekeeping duties to ensure their work area is clean, free from clutter and sanitary at all times.
  • Maintains appropriate communications with company units, managers, support staff, receiving healthcare facilities and other agencies via radio, data link, pager or cell phone as required.
  • Is knowledgeable as to local geography to include location of hospitals, public venues as well as local streets and highway systems.
  • Deploys, tracks and moves units on an ongoing basis throughout the day per local System Status Posting Plan.
  • Responds to all calls for service promptly and accurately answering incoming phone calls for service per Emergency Medical Dispatch and company procedure as required.

  • Acts at all times with the safety of field crews he/she is dispatching in mind, as well as the safety of the patient, other EMS personnel, bystanders, and any other public safety personnel present at scene.

  • Maintains security and privacy of all company and patient information at all times in accordance HIPPA and all other local, state and federal regulations.

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
Directly responsible for the actions of all ambulance/wheelchair operations
staff on their assigned shifts and have discretionary authority, within the bounds of the law and Medshore
Ambulance Service policies and procedures, to lead any on-duty operations personnel.
The Operations Supervisor coordinates all phases of operations within their task area for Medshore
Ambulance Service in cooperation with the Operations Manager. He / She must be familiar with local, state, federal laws and regulations applicable to the operations of ambulance services. He / She maintains contacts with local and state agencies so as to foster cooperation and good public relations. He / She is responsible for the efficient operations of the company and is to insure the highest possible quality of care, and safety of the patients being treated and transported by the crews providing services.
The goal of the Operations Supervisor is to produce high - quality unit hours at a reasonable cost per unit
hour, and to fulfill as closely as possible the coverage requirements of the Operations Manager.
A “high quality unit hour” may be summarized as a clinically - competent, neat - appearing, well motivated
crew conducting themselves at all times in a safe, friendly, caring, and professional manner, while working with high quality, reliable, clean, and well maintained equipment under the direction of the System Status Controller for one hour.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
➢ Coordinate and supervise the activities of any personnel assigned to them.
➢ Ensure that assigned personnel are fully informed of company policies, local procedures and other information pertinent to operations.
➢ Review and act upon, as necessary, all incidents, accident, deviation/exception, and other reports forwarded from the field or Control Center. Checks reports for accuracy, completeness, and competence.
➢ Keep themselves apprised of events in the field affecting Medshore Ambulance Service, including accidents, injuries, breaches of policy, interagency relations, morale, newsworthy events and superior/poor performance by field personnel.
➢ Respond to ambulance/wheelchair calls as needed. Routinely responds to ambulance calls where unusual or extraordinary circumstances exist.
➢ Ensure proper performance of vehicles and equipment by arranging repairs and preventative maintenance (in the absence of designated maintenance personnel).
➢ Attend meetings and maintain contacts with allied agencies at the direction of the Operations Manager, and/or Senior Management.
➢ Periodically inspect field personnel, quarters, and units to ensure conformity with Medshore Ambulance Service standards.
➢ Make work assignments with available personnel. Monitor and modify current schedule by staffing to meet the needs of the company.
➢ Work cooperatively with the SSC to ensure that problem or complicated calls are handled properly.
➢ Attend continuing education programs as needed and required.
➢ Assist the Human Resources and Education/CQI Coordinator in orientation and other continuing education programs.
➢ Participate in employee performance appraisals as directed.
➢ Perform corollary duties, within reason, at the direction of superiors.
➢ Give disciplinary action up to a Class II.
➢ Other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager and/or Senior Management

PHYSICAL STRENGTH REQUIRED:
1. Must be able to lift a minimum of 220 pounds (150 lb. patient and approximately 75 lb. stretcher)
with assistance from one other qualified individual.
2. Must be able to lift a minimum of 100 pounds at waist high level and carry a distance of 100 yards.
3. Must be able to lift and move a 75 lb. ambulance stretcher with the help of one qualified individual.
4. Must be able to lift a 175 lb. patient (in various positions, i.e., while lying on the floor, the bed, in an automobile, etc.) with the help of one qualified individual onto a stretcher.
5. Must be able to carry a monitor/defibrillator in one hand and an ALS trauma kit in the other for a distance of 100 yards.
6. Due to the unpredictability of this type of organization, it is not always possible to guarantee meal and/or break periods. Therefore, this position must have no physical condition which would prohibit him/her from working 12 hours without a meal or break.
 
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
1. Must be adaptive to work in all types of weather conditions, including, but not limited to, rain, snow, heat, etc.
2. Due to the uncontrolled environment in the field of emergency medical services, he/she may be subjected to predisposing themselves to be at risk for:
A. Bodily Harm
B. Exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens and other Potentially Infectious Materials (OPIM).

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Must meet the minimum requirements of the Department of Transportation Physical Assessment/Fitness Requirements for Commercial Vehicle Operations :
• Has no back problem, muscle problem, or other physical disability, which would not allow the lifting and carrying of heavy weight.
• Has no established medical history or clinical diagnosis of epilepsy, rheumatic, arthritic, or orthopedic, muscular, neuromuscular, or vascular disease, or any other medical condition which may interfere with his ability to control and operate a motor vehicle and/or provide patient care.
• Has no established medical history or clinical diagnosis of uncontrolled diabetes mellitus.
• No emotional, mental nervous, organic, or functional disorder likely to interfere with safe emergency driving or providing emergency care.
• No impairment of use of foot, leg , hands, or arms or other structural defects or limitations likely to interfere with safe emergency driving or providing emergency care.
2. Minimum of Three (3) year experience as ALS provider with the Company or Five (5) years progressive EMS management experience with another service. Associates Degree may be used for Two (2) years Management experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
3. Must be available for recall 24 hours a day for emergency situations. Must be at a designated phone number or able to be contacted by cell phone (provided by Medshore Ambulance Service). If you plan to be unreachable for more than 24 hours, you must notify the Operations Manager.
7. Must be flexible in work schedule to meet the demands of the company.
8. Must attend scheduled and called meetings.
9. Must possess physical and mental fitness so as to set a good example.
 
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
1. Current South Carolina and/or Appropriate State Driver’s License
2. Current South Carolina State and/or National Registered Certification as EMT/EMT-I/ Paramedic.
3. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification- BCLS.
4. Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification -ACLS (Paramedic Only)
5. Current Pediatric Life Support Certification -PALS (Paramedic Only)
